Athlete Blog: Jahi Word-Daniels

 

Hey what’s up guys? My name is Jahi Word-Daniels but my teammates call me “HaHa.” I know it’s kind of a funky nickname, but it has stuck with me since Freshmen year in college. This is my first blog here, or anywhere for that matter, so bare with me.

 

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a cornerback out of Georgia Tech. Although I’m a true Southern boy, born in Mississippi and raised in Alabama, I am all the way out here in Orange County, California to train for the NFL Scouting Combine. I couldn’t be happier with my time in California so far. I’m feeling stronger than ever and I’ve even put on a lot of muscle. At 6 foot, I am a force to be reckoned with. I am a hard-hitting cornerback that is not afraid to come up and lay the boom on fullbacks and tight-ends who want to catch short passes out in the flats.

 

“Not on my watch!”

 

I have good quickness and cover skills. Don’t be fooled by my stats this year because I only played half the season due to my pulled hamstring.

 

“Not cool!”

 

Even with half a season I was able to get some heads turning because I was invited to the East West Shrine game and the Texas vs. The Nation game. Not to mention, I have an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine. I’m excited and ready to start turning heads again. I have my eyes set on the NFL Scouting Combine and my Pro-Day at Georgia Tech. My hamstring has been feeling good and my body is in great shape. My short shuttle and 3 cone drill times have been looking really impressive. Feel free to ask what kind of times I’ve gotten and what numbers I’m expecting to put up.

 

Okay, I have got to talk a little bit about California life. It is real laid back around here. The scenery is beautiful. There are mountains in the background everywhere you look. The beaches look perfect, just like they were out of a movie. Also the shopping is great too. I spend so much time training that I really don’t have time to go out and shop for myself, but I got lucky and was able to check out some spots this past weekend. I like to look fresh if I’m going out. Sometimes I’ll get my “grown and sexy on” and sometimes I’m just casual, comfortable, yet still fly! I wonder how good of a fashion sense you all have. What type of brands or styles do you think I would rock?

 

Just some things not many people know about me:

 

I went to Hoover High School (Known for the MTV show “2-A-Days”).

I love baseball.

My major is Business Management.

And my favorite food is lamb chops.

 

I’ll make sure to keep you all posted on training and my experiences in California. I want to hear from you all though. I’d love to hear what you guys think about my training process.

I’m just curious, but does anyone know or would like to take a guess at why my last name is Word-Daniels. Oh and a hint, if it were a simple answer I wouldn’t ask.
